The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) has confirmed it will work in partnership with the College of Estate Management, the Cambridge University Programme for Sustainability Leadership (CPSL) and consultancy WSP to deliver new training programmes for construction and property professionals.
Launching in spring 2010, the courses will form part of the UKGBC's Sustainability and Training Education Programme (Step), which was established after research indicated high demand from builders and property professionals for the body to get involved in providing green training and education.
The College of Estate Management, which was selected from 45 applicant organisations, will deliver an introductory course covering sustainable development and the built environment. Around 12,500 people are expected to take the course online and face-to-face in the first year.
Meanwhile, the CPSL and WSP will deliver a sustainability leadership programme aimed at board-level and senior management professionals in the construction and property industries. There will be 90 places on this course in its first year.
UKGBC head of business development Chad Harrell said: "We're delighted to bring on board these like-minded delivery partners for the rollout of Step."
