Building job in EH48
Well where do I start with this reply:
Firstly you got a fantastic review because you had left a good superficial job.
Secondly the drawings which were drawn by an architect had all the relevant information to allow build and pass all building control requirements. If there were problems with the drawings then it was because you were not able to read them correctly.
The toilet which was shown on the draft drawings and not the approved building control drawings (which should have been worked to) was supposed to be as shown on this drawing connected to the foul drainage not a saniflo system. The saniflo system was a cheaper option for yourself rather than expose the drainage and carry out a proper connection. Even the installation of this saniflo was a mess as the waste is a 22mm round plastic pipe pushed into a square hole cut into the cast iron pipe outside. It doesn’t even work.
When the project was being agreed it was clear from the start that the wooden cladding in the kitchen had to be removed. Not my fault you expected a clean unmarked wall finish behind it.
Yes I cannot dispute there was an issue with the drainage however after we were forced to have the complete floor of the extension removed we did discover that the waste from my sink was in fact filling the solum of the extension instead of the drainage pipes this was due to two main problems in the line that you installed, tape measure and concrete blocking the pipe and the poor jointing of the new connection (5 inch and 4 inch pipes require an adaptor installed they are not designed to just sit against themselves).
As noted above the drawings had all of the required technical specifications to allow the extension to be built correctly. There surely cannot be any excuses for you not sheeting the fire wall correctly, puncturing the fire wall for services, not having any vapour barrier in any of the external walls, not using the correct plasterboard, not putting in any ventilation through the roof, I could go on and on but I suppose the main point is you never used the correct materials shown on the drawings by the architect. All of the above issues would have been seen by building control earlier if you had followed the correct procedure and given then the start of work notice as required when you start the works.
If you have been business for 16 years then I guess you have been very lucky getting away with using the wrong materials or maybe you just took advantage of me and took my money and ran!

Do not go near this tradesman. Initially I was happy with work but since I have been unable to get building control to pass the work! Contacted John Ure several times with no success. I have since had to pay another builder to fix, repair and complete job to satisfaction of Building Control which is costing thousands more!!!!
