Plumbing job in N11

Colin was aggresive at getting the job with a nicely competitive quote for replacing with the WC cistern valve and replacing the gate valve for the cold water supply from cold water storage tank that feeds bathroom cold taps/shower. Contacted me within a few hours of posting my jobs on RatedPeople on Sunday. He has an open and straight forward style when explaining the job tasks including pro/cons of a couple choices for the above problems. He didn't need to drain the cold water tank at all to deal with the gate valve which wasn't shutting off properly but left the gate valve insitu & placed a new stopcock downstream along the pipe to enable shutting off the cold water properly from the tank - did it in 10mins, no leaks. The WC cistern valve also fitted and tested working without sweat in 15mins total too - advised against choice of a torbek valve, instead fitted a Hydroflo Telescopic brass tailed inlet valve which fills up quickly and silently - again, no leaks which is great (the brass tailed Fluidmaster valve was too bulky to fit in our WC easily). Both the jobs done in total 30 mins. He obviously knew what he's doing unlike bloke from GiveHand who had to return the next day after he cross threaded the plastic tail of the torbek valve sweating at it for an hour and never even phoned when he didn't show up the next day to finish off the job, leaving us unable to use the WC - technically incompetent and poor customer care too. Will definitely call Colin when we want to fit a new kitchen mixer tap and deal with/replace the mains stopcock in the near future, without hesitation. He guaranteed his work for a year, and is local to us in New Southgate. 9Feb2012
