Refreshing to find a plumber who'll come out and only get paid by results!
First time out, he diagnosed the problem after an hour or so but was happy to leave without any payment as there was a chance that during diagnosis the issue was solved. However, after he left the problem did reoccur so he came first thing the next day to fix.
