Ratings Guide

What's a Rating?

A Rating is the feedback you leave for a member of Rated People, either a customer or a tradesperson. It includes a rating score and a written comment. Members are allowed to change their Rating at any time, add further comments or respond to a Rating left for them.

  • Tradespeople get a score for the 'Quality' of their work, the 'Reliability' of their service and how well they represent 'Value' for money
  • Customers get a score for giving 'Clear Requirements', being 'Good to work with' and giving 'Reliable Payment'
  • After you have rated on each category our system will come up with an overall Rating based on what you have decided

Ratings are really important but only take a few minutes to do. They're a reflection of the work tradespeople do and the way customers treat them. Ratings encourage the right behaviour from all sides and really help everyone to build better relationships with one another. Each one of our members likes recommendations and Ratings so they can make an informed decision about the people they want work to with.

How do I leave a Rating for a member?

Once your job has begun you can rate the member you're working with. To do this, login to ratedpeople.com, go to your account area, choose the job and the member you want to rate and click the "Rate Them" button. Rating someone should only take a few minutes.

Once you've posted your Rating, it will be reviewed by our Rating System and appear on the member's profile page.

Feedback can only be given online and once posted, cannot be deleted. You can always change the rating score or add a comment after you've submitted a Rating. The most recent rating score will be the one that appears on the member's profile page. All comments (both the most recent and previous comments) can be viewed by members. This allows members to leave complete feedback covering everything that's happened and how things have gone.

What should I think about when I leave a Rating?

Your Rating should be a fair reflection of the job that has been done and how the member worked with you professionally. A helpful Rating is objective and takes into account the entire job. It gives a balanced view of what's good and what's not so good about a job.

Other members will read the Rating to assess the quality of the tradesperson or how easy a customer is to work with. If you want to leave a bad Rating, please remember that this has an impact on the member's reputation.

Why can a Rating be rejected?

Rated People only removes Ratings in limited and specific circumstances. Once you post a Rating, it is reviewed by Rated People's Rating system and in almost all cases will be posted for other members to read. However, occasionally a Rating might be rejected:

  • A Rating may reveal personal contact details like names, company names or telephone numbers.
  • A Rating might be threatening, racist, obscene, discriminatory, or defamatory.
  • A Rating might not relate to the job.

When our system rejects a Rating, we will email you and give you the opportunity to repost a Rating within our guidelines. You can always get in touch to discuss the matter. In cases where we reject a Rating, we will remove the entire Rating entry from the system and mark the account with 'Rating from (insert date) removed by Rated People'.

When do I leave a Rating for a member?

Most members leave a Rating once the work is complete, but you can leave a Rating as soon as a job begins. You can always update your score or add a comment. You can also respond to a Rating left by another member about you.

What's a closed Ratings system?

At Rated People our Ratings system only allows customer members to leave a Rating for a job that they have posted and accepted to be done. Similarly a tradesperson can only leave a Rating for a customer who has used their services. No one can leave Ratings for jobs they have not been involved in.
