Britons ‘becoming more comfortable with colourful interior design’

When it comes to redecorating your home, there are few decisions as important as what colour to paint your walls.

Whether you are aiming for something loud and bright or refined and elegant, there are dozens of shades to choose from and every one offers something a little bit different. Rather than picking your personal favourite, it might be worth thinking about which will suit the room it is to be used in the best.

Interior designer and TV presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has spoken on the subject of colour, noting that Britons are becoming far more comfortable with more intriguing shades rather than white and cream, as was so often the norm in days gone by.

The former Changing Rooms star said people are no longer opting for lilac or blush, they are prepared to go the extra mile and choose red or a similarly daring tone. Llewelyn-Bowen said as recently as five or six years ago, experts would have been entirely against this.

“That shows we’re regaining our spaces – we’re almost like Scott of the Antarctic and we’re allowed back into our living rooms again. We’re falling in love with our living rooms again,” he explained.

One way to ensure the best possible result is to hire a professional painter and decorator to apply your chosen shade and carry out other home improvements. For the finest quality touch, this is perhaps the only option.

Last month, Llewelyn-Bowen suggested many people are showing a sense of national pride in their interiors, with the colours of the Union Jack known to be hugely popular.

In his latest comments, he reiterated the growing pride many Britons now feel and you might want to ensure you show this off when it comes to your next interior design makeover, carried out by an expert tradesman.
