People may be wise to call in builders in Newcastle to take a look at ways that a home could be protected against the threat of fire.
The Scottish Government’s community safety minister Roseanna Cunningham has revealed the latest statistics on the matter, which are sure to get individuals thinking about the safety of their home.
In 2010-11, there were 5,254 accidental blazes in UK homes, a slight decrease on the total for the previous year.
“Campaigns are raising awareness of the risks of fire, be it alcohol consumption, smoking, misuse of electrical appliances or the overloading of electrical sockets, but more can and will be done,” Ms Cunningham stated.
One way for Britons to reduce the risks in their homes is to call in builders to look for ways to fireproof a property.
Jeff Learman, director of communications at Gas Safe Register, this week said it is also worth getting an expert in to check gas appliances and connections before the winter arrives.
