Can’t get hold of Robbie Williams? Try a professional tradesman instead

We are all desperate for a knight in shining armour to come to our rescue when something around the house goes wrong.

It is believed that bad weather will cause an extra 61 emergencies and many more problems this winter, leaving many of you with a headache when it comes to protecting your property.

New research by Duck Tape has found who most Britons would like to help them out in a crisis, whether it be at home or on the road.

Pop star Robbie Williams topped the poll, followed by ex-England captain David Beckham and Take That singer Gary Barlow.

While it is unlikely many of you will be able to call upon such esteemed services if your pipes freeze and burst, your central heating packs up or your electricity supply is broken, you can look for a professional tradesman for either prevention or cure in such scenarios. According to the study, some 35 per cent of people say they make no effort to prepare for the winter weather, despite the fact 38 per cent claim to hate it.

A spokesman for Duck Tape said: “This survey shows that winter can be hazardous for British people and it is tempting to batten down the hatches altogether.” While Williams, Beckham and Barlow were named as your top heroes in a domestic problem, celebrities you would least like to see by your side included Adrian Chiles, Eamonn Holmes and Piers Morgan. Others who fared well in the survey are Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar, television presenter Carol Vorderman and Kirstie Allsopp.

The research’s other conclusions included the average homeowner having to contend with one set of boiler issues, two leaks and one collapsed fence this winter. It was recently said by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors that carrying out a winter audit on a home is a wise idea.
