Builders in Canterbury and elsewhere in the UK are set to experience growing demand for their services when it comes to the construction of new homes.
Vernon Pethard, managing director at newhomesforsale.co.uk, explained that supply and demand in the housing sector is very much “the issue”. He noted that there is currently a “huge demand” for new homes, but several issues are slowing progress, including planning regulations and the willingness of lenders to hand over cash.
“Homebuilders are in a position to build more properties and would like to do so but are frustrated by the lack of support for first-time buyers who are [crucial],” Mr Pethard stated. The expert added that the country is sure to see a continued rise in demand for builders over the coming years.
Figures from the Department for Communities and Local Government last week showed that house building in the September quarter of 2011 was one per cent down on the previous three months.
