Do up entrance hall to sell home

Selling a home will be a much simpler prospect if it boasts an entrance hall that is smart, modern and clean, an expert has suggested.

Graham Lock, director and co-founder of, explained his belief that the space behind the front door is the key, as it is the first and last impression prospective buyers have of a property. “Brighten up the hallway with light and warm colours, add mirrors to create a spacious feel and remove any unnecessary objects,” he stated.

His words come just days after Philip Eddell, of Savills Country House Consultancy, said rural homes can be more attractive if fencing is in order, the building is painted nicely and they have a distinctive style. Mr Lock added that it is not just design and decoration that is important, as it is also crucial to clear away any clutter. He recommended removing any items that have not been used for a year or more.
