Get your property ready for winter sale

Britons have been advised that there is plenty to gain by getting their home on the market during winter.

According to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), the season is often viewed as a poor time to sell a property, with fewer buyers and sellers around.

But this means there is less competition for both parties, while the gloomy economic picture also appears to be levelling the playing field between winter and summer.

“For those willing to brave the chill, the winter market can also bring a greater sense of commitment from both sides to complete the sale,” explained NAEA president Wendy Evans Scott.

One way to make a home stand out is to hire tradesmen such as painters and decorators prior to it going on the market in order to give it a boost that will appeal to potential buyers.

Anna-Marie DeSouza, editor of Built It, recently suggested property owners have nothing to gain by delaying home improvements.
