Residential propertyowners looking to get the best deal on their gas and electricity ahead of the winter should opt for an online price plan, according to one expert.
Mark Todd, director of energyhelpline.com, said this is generally the cheapest type of tariff. He added that home owners could be best served by opting for a fixed-rate deal, rather than a variable rate one, although it is important to check how long charges will be set for.
Mr. Todd also advised anyone who is unsure of the suppliers in their area or the number of deals there are on the market to check with a “reputable comparison site”, which will show them all the available options.
His comments come after research by uSwitch.com showed some 61 per cent of households are worried about running up big energy bills during the coming winter.
