Those of you with money to spend on home improvements in 2012 might wish to focus your cash on a bathroom makeover, which has been undergoing something of a change in image in recent times.
At least, that is the opinion of interior designer and design director at Taylor’s Etc Lesley Taylor, who said the room is no longer a purely practical part of the home. She suggested it is now a multi-purpose room that can be as important as a relaxing space as it is a place to wash and shave. Ms Taylor noted it is “more apparent” than ever that the bathroom’s role in domestic life is evolving.
“The bathroom is now a place where we can retreat to after a hard day, a place we can find solitude and comfort and a place where more and more effort is being made to ensure the highest level of aesthetic appreciation is in place,” she stated. There was once a time where functionality was the only consideration for homeowners when it came to doing up their bathroom. However, those days are now over and style is every bit as important – something those planning home improvements might wish to consider.
Indeed, commenting on the binding of practicality and style, Ms Taylor said the elements “now work together in harmony to ensure a space that fulfils all bathing desires and … looks fabulous”.
Using a professional tradesman to carry out your bathroom makeover could be a shrewd move by any Briton, as this may result in the highest quality finish and faultless fittings. Simpler PR recently offered some advice on how best to decorate a home at the current time, suggesting pastel shades are the obvious choice. The good news is that, if you choose such colours, the business said they are unlikely to ever go out of fashion.
