Homeowners ‘to increasingly target LED lighting’

One of the major home improvement trends in 2012 is likely to be the addition of LED lighting systems to properties, in the opinion of an expert.

Natalie Timmerman, spokeswoman for Light IQ, explained the technology is proving to be of great interest to many people. Compared to its halogen and incandescent counter parts, LEDs are efficient, easy to maintain and have a longer life expectancy.

“LED technology is advancing every day, it has come a long way in the last two to three years and it is becoming more and more affordable,” Ms Timmerman stated. She also advised homeowners to look out for further advances, such as the creation of organic LEDs, which she predicted could easily revolutionise the industry once they become commercially available.

Interior designer Jo Hamilton recently said investing in high-quality interior lighting is a must when doing up a home, along with comfortable sighting and “moody” colours.
