Homes ‘must be appealing and attractive if they are to sell’

Selling a home is much easier when the property in question boasts aesthetic beauty and is in a good condition, in the opinion of an expert.

Stuart Law, chief executive of Assetz, said finding a buyer is a simpler process when a home is in great shape and easy on the eye.

He said people must ensure their abode is “appealing and attractive”, with the exterior said to be particularly important.

It may also be a wise move to invest in a tradesman or two to carry out vital repair work, after Mr Law stated: “Don’t leave lots of small obvious jobs when people come around to look at the property because they might wonder what else needs doing.”

Graham Lock, director and co-founder of housenetwork.co.uk, recently said doing up the front door and entrance hall is a good way to provide prospective buyers with a positive first and last impression.

Mr Law went on to recommend treating the sale of a home in the same way as that of a car, as presentation is the key.
