Loft conversions can add 20% to house value

People can add 20 per cent to the value of their home with a loft conversion.

This is according to Michael Watkins – director at useyourloft.com – and so builders in Cardiff may be called upon.

Mr Watkins observed there are more than just financial benefits, as individuals will also get an extra room.

“You are maximising something that is already on the top of your house and you are not taking away from the space outside your home,” he added.

The specialist continued by saying that with the current fluctuation in house prices people are increasingly choosing to improve their dwellings, as opposed to moving.

Unlike other types of extensions, Mr Watkins remarked people will not have to decrease the size of their gardens in order to enjoy it.

When asked by E.ON why people did not have loft insulation installed, nine per cent blamed the clutter in their attic for the situation.

  1. Good advice this. Can you do a loft conversion yourself? Yes. But unless it is done right and done right first time you will come to regret it in the future. Also by getting a well established firm to do it (like this one in Cardiff), they will be able to tell you all the legislation governing the build.
