Gardeners in Cambridge may find the coming months are their busiest period of the year, following the comments of one expert Writing for the Daily Mail, Nigel Colborn noted the beginning of summer is the most exciting time for those with an interest in horticulture. The specialist stated: “Growth has reached top speed, borders are awash with colour and those icons of summer, roses, are coming into full glory. They are the big show-stoppers for the next few weeks.”

He explained most garden centres will be holding decent stocks of container-grown roses, which can be planted at any time. Roses are a versatile plant that come in many varieties, such as windowsill miniatures and shrub roses, including Nevada and Fruhlingsgold varieties. John Wyer, landscape architect and garden designer at Bowles and Wyer, recently told the Independent that seaside plants could be ideal for small outdoor spaces such as a roof terrace.
