When it comes to selling a home, it is important to create the right impression from the very start in order to attract potential buyers.
Miles Shipside, commercial director at Rightmove.co.uk, has offered some words of advice on how to ensure this is the case.
He urged people to take a “hard, critical look” at their property, pretending to do so through the eyes of buyers.
“It has to look homely, but it has to look spacious. [It must be] freshly-decorated – inside and out – [have] tidy gardens [and] lots of natural daylight,” Mr Shipside explained.
He went on to note that many people have a biased opinion of their own home as they have lived there for some time and are aware of its benefits and overlook the negatives a buyer would spot.
It could be wise to hire a professional tradesman to make a number of improvements prior to putting a home on the market. Recent research by Duck Tape found there is nobody Britons would rather come to their aid to solve domestic problems than Take That star Robbie Williams.
