Stone flooring ‘will last forever’

Those contemplating home improvements may wish to consider stone flooring as one interior designer has recommended it will “last forever”.

However, individuals considering such enhancements to their properties will want to get a professional in as Carolyn Parker advised stone in bathrooms and kitchens, while looking attractive, “can be prone to cracking”.

This may mean that laying such floors is not a job for an amateur, although Ms Parker stated the material is currently “what everyone wants”.

She added: “There are certain types of stone – [such as] limestone – that are very, very practical.”

The specialist, who runs her own interior design company, explained “the ceramic tiles you can get now are fantastic” and look realistic, with less chance that they could crack, so this may be another option for homes.

With regards to the rest of the house, the same expert recently recommended striped carpets for staircases, claiming they can “look fantastic” as such areas are often subjected to “the hardest wearing” in properties.
