Households offered storms advice

Homeowners across Britain are coming to terms with the storms that have hit the country in recent days and potentially left some properties with damage. Strong winds and heavy rain have been the order of the day in several regions, including Scotland and the north of England.

Insurance provider Direct Line has offered its top tips to those affected by the weather, who could now be looking for a professional tradesman to fix their problems. Stuart Curson, head of home insurance at the firm, suggested it is often not a good idea for an untrained dweller to attempt repair work. “Nearly half of all weather related claims are due to roof damage. However, personal safety is paramount and if it is not safe to do so, do not attempt even temporary repairs,” he stated.

Peter Harrison, an insurance expert at Moneysupermarket.com, recently said people who are affected by the UK’s poor weather must act immediately.
