“Spring colour in the garden is synonymous with the flowers of tulips, daffodils and crocus. These are available in a huge number of shapes, colours and sizes,” he stated.\u00a0But if you are a little more innovative in your thinking, why not step up the search for rarer varieties of flowers, such as Muscari, Iphieon or Fritallaria?<\/p>\n

Of course, another option is to use your garden to grow food. This was recently backed by Mark Diacono, writing for the Telegraph, who said you should focus on growing the items you like to eat. However, style and elegance are more important to many of you, particularly if you see your garden as a social space in which to entertain guests, so focusing on growing some beautiful flowers may be a better place to start.<\/p>\n

Mr Hawtin went on to recommend and describe certain favourites, suggesting: “A little-used bulb that also thrives in shady places is Ipheion uniflorum. These star-shaped flowers exist as cultivars that produce all shades of blue, purple and white.”\u00a0Whatever you have planted in your garden, injecting colour is sure to be no bad thing as the return of sunshine to the UK looms.<\/p>\n
