Should I be working and going into people\u2019s homes right now?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your wellbeing and the wellbeing of our homeowners will always be the most important thing to us. We know it\u2019s an uncertain time, but we want to reassure you that we\u2019re following the latest advice and recommendations from the government<\/a> and the World Health Organisation<\/a> (WHO) to help keep you safe and well, and keep your business ticking over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boris Johnson shared advice from the government on 10th<\/sup> May 2020. This included the first steps towards moving the country out of lockdown. Regarding trade work, he said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnyone who can\u2019t work from home, for instance those in construction or manufacturing, should be actively encouraged to go to work. You should avoid public transport if at all possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENGLAND<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Most legal restrictions have been lifted in England since 19th<\/sup> July 2021, meaning tradespeople can carry out work in your home as long as you, they and everyone in both of your households are well and have no coronavirus symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tradesperson should also follow the COVID-Secure guidance for businesses<\/strong><\/a> where possible, including leaving doors open to let fresh air in and limiting the number of workers within a confined space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional guidelines are in place in local areas at higher risk of COVID-19. If you live in one of these areas, you should follow the specific guidance given by your local authority. Check if your local area is listed on Gov.uk<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCOTLAND<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

On the 19th<\/sup> July 2021, Scotland moved to protection level 0. This means that tradespeople can carry out work in your home as long as you, they and everyone in both of your households are well and have no coronavirus symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tradesperson must follow the guidance on working in homes safely<\/a><\/strong>. This includes wearing a face covering and maintaining social distancing (1m indoors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WALES<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From Saturday 17th<\/sup> July, Wales is at alert level 1. Tradespeople can carry out work in your home, as long as it can be done safely and they, you and your respective households are well and have no coronavirus symptoms. A tradesperson must also follow all the reasonable measures<\/strong><\/a> and the guidance on working in other people\u2019s homes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government has recommended that no work is carried out in a household where someone is isolating, unless it is to repair a fault or to carry out an adaptation to allow you to stay in your property. If this is the case, additional precautions should be taken to keep both you and the tradesperson completely separate from each other. Public Health Wales can advise you in these specific cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
