Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Low High
Letterbox £40 £60

When replacing your letterbox or fitting a new one, your carpenter or joiner will need to remove the old letterbox and its fittings before tidying up the hole that was made to fit it. If the letterbox is being moved, is a different size or is being fitted for a first time, then your tradesman will carefully drill out a hole that fits the new one perfectly.

Using professionals is always advisable for this kind of job, as they will know where best to cut or drill so that your door retains its strength. They will also know what to do if your new letterbox is smaller than a previous one and some filling or repair needs to be made to the door. Fitting or replacing a letterbox should be a straightforward task for any woodworking professional and the job should not take long to complete.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on external doors. We also asked about internal doors.
