Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Missing tiles or slates

Low High
Missing £100 £300

Missing tiles are the most common of problems that need repairing on any roof. Age, wind and weather can make tiles shift and eventually fall off, leaving you with gaps in your roof. This means that wind and rain could eventually permeate your roof and that other tiles may be in danger from falling.

Calling in a professional roofer when you notice any missing tiles means that any tiles that are missing can be replace and that the roofer can also check for other slates that may be loose or in need of replacement. In most cases the roofer will need to replace the tiles or slates with new ones and they will do their best to closely match current colour or designs.

The main cost of the job will be the labour of the roofer, who will give the roof a good check over while he is with you. It may seem expensive just to replace a few tiles, but a thorough inspection alongside replacing missing tiles is money well spent and could save you having to pay further call out charges in the near future.

Rated People asked 41 of our registered roofers across the country to give approximate prices for repairing roofs and for laying new roofs.

Please note these are average costs which vary according to the type of roof, the part of the property and the size of the property. Materials are not included and the cost guides are intended only to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local roofers.
