What type of plug for double oven

Posted by elizabeth wright, on
Can you use a 13amp plug for a double oven

Cookers are normally wired on their own circuit with 6mm twin and earth cable. Some cookers can be wired via a 13amp plug but this depends on the wattage of the oven.Have a look at the instruction manual and see the oven wattage. Basically if its more than 3000w or 3kw it cannot be wired with a plug. Hope this helps

If the oven is rated at 2.99Kw or less then it should come with a plug fitted. If higher then it needs to be hard wired in 6mm Twin & Earth.

Hi Elizabeth It depends on the power output of the oven. If it is greater than 3 kw or 3000 watts then the oven will need it's own circuit directly from the fuse board. If in doubt put an ad on ratedpeople and you will get up to 3 tradesman contacting you. Hope this helps. Sam (eps)
