Replacing old fuse box with new fuse box Don't want to change old wiring

Hi Patrick, Highly recommend an electrical installation condition report carried out to your property, which is basically an MOT for your electrical installation, which will flag up any issues which don't meet current regulations. Common issues: *insulation resistance faults which will cause new RCD to operate * main protective bonding conductors not present or undersized (e.g gas and water services) * continuity issues with ring and radial circuits Etc Hope this helps. Cornelian is correct - however just updating the fuse board doesn't mean the electrics are updated - there can be some old cable still in service that is plainly dangerous. Seek advice from a local qualified electrician to do the work, as they can advise on what other work that may need doing to make safe.

Hi Patrick, It is possible to have only the fuse box replaced with a consumer unit, but first you should have all the wiring thoroughly checked by an electrician to make sure there are no faults that can trip the more sensitive RCD protected consumer units.
