There are several factors which would affect the costs, as Bozena mentions the type and age of the hedge to be removed is one but also what type of fencing you require and what the access to the site is like. As a very very rough estimate you'll be looking at between £1200 to £1700. You really need to have contractors visit the site and prepare you quotes (which are normally done for free). Cheers, Craig

Hi Sadie, given that your hedge is an average size say 6 feet high and with trunk sizes of no more than 2-3 inches, you can expext a contractor to remove the hedge and take it away for recycling in a day, providing its not a leylandii with larger trunks as this may need powered equipment to remove and grind the stumps out. Labour and materials to include green waste fees up to £300. With regards to the Fencing this will vary between £50 to £80 per metre depending on the type and quality of Fencing chosen. you will require approx 13 metres of fencing. Using rated peoples service is probably the best way forward for you as you will be able to obtain up to three quotes from Tradesman with recomendations from clients who have used them before and choose your contractor yourself.
