Ive had two quotes for replacing my flat roof one is for Fibreglass the other Rubber. Both same price.Which is best? Thanks

Hi Mick, personally I think the one thing that overrides the other is the durability, although the EPDM is easier to repair, should anything arise ie slipped tile onto it or the birds pecking at it, which I have seen, GRP is exactly the same build up that is used to make the hulls of yachts, but as I say this is purely a personal choice. I agree with Brett EPDM is the answer. If the rubber is Firestone ask for 060 grade (1.5mm) as opposed to the 045 which is 1.14mm, doesn't seem like much but it makes a big difference taking into consideration the other points you have raised. We prefer to install the EPDM sheet in one piece, cut to suit from a Firestone roll (up to 200sqm), or made-to-measure with fully vulcanised seams in the Prelasti system (up to 1200sqm). Also remember to install 'warm roof' insulation to comply with building regs.

Hi Rhona, Personally after using both i would opt for the Grp (fibreglass), they both can be guaranteed for a long period of time. Regards Paul.
