We would high highly recommend Karl of A1 Plastering. Karl completed the job of laying new hardwood plywood flooring and skirting. We found Karl to be amiable, courteous, punctual and had a very professional manner from the initial quote to completing the task. The completed work was outstanding and Karl left our home tidy and we had no need to call him back with any snags.

I am back in love with my kitchen thanks to Karl. Karl came to view the job and quoted a very reasonable price and started 2 days later. He arrived on time and set to work. I cannot fault his craftmanship and he takes the time to get things perfect. They are both very polite and easy to talk to and cleared up when finished taking all the rubbish with them. I would recommend Karl without hesitation and have already booked him for further work.

Turned up bang on time to quote, was a really nice guy, took the time to understand what was wanted, supplied a very competitive quote exactly when he said he would. Turned up to do the work exactly when he said he would, did the job with no fuss, no bother, left the place clean and tidy. Stuck to his quote even though some things changed - a top tradesman and we will definitely be using a Karl again.

Karl has just completed a considerable amount of plastering for me including skimming over old artex ceilings and plastering new walls. I am very happy with the standard of the work, the job was completed on time and very reasonably priced. I have already recommended Karl to a friend and I will definitely be using him in the future.

Plasterer / Renderer

I can't recommend Karl enough, he took the job on after I had been let down by someone else and made sure everything was completed in time so that all the other work I had booked in could still be done. The house was well looked after, the finish looks great, and he went above and beyond to make sure that I could settle back in the house as quickly as possible. I will definitely be hiring Karl for any other plastering work going forward.

My small bungalow's pebble dashed walls are lumpy and bumpy. I am concerned that removing in order to replace it will cause damage internally e.g to plastered walls. Do you think this will be the case? Is there an easier way to smarten up my walls?

removing the render from external walls rarely damages the internal plastered walls as most modern walls are made up of 2 skins The external render is only attached to the outer skin so removal doesn't effect the internal finish hope this helps Karl A1

's question

I have bricked up a chimney and had the wall plastered. All of the wall has dried to a light pink finish apart from a one square foot area right in the bottom corner of the chimney breast. This area looks damp. Its not wet to the touch. I applied some paint to it but the 'damp patch' came through, this wasnt present before we sealed the fireplace. I have looked on Google and have seen a couple of comments such as an air brick should have been installed and that its possible that salts are leaching through. Are these correct or could there be something else, and how should I go about remedying this?

if the chimney is still open at the top you should vent it with an air brick or possibly a sliding vent This will provide airflow to the inside of the chimney. You can fit a vent to the chimney by drilling a hole in the front where it has been bricked up and fit a vent over the top Hope this resolves your problem Karl
