Painter and decorator

Paul did a really good job with decorating our external door. It was in a really bad state and required a lot of work. It now looks great! Paul's work is at a high standard and he is friendly and reliable!

Paul was very efficient, reliable and polite. He telephoned on the same day as my request for a local tradesman. He came round to my home to quote on the job. We agreed a price and he arrived the very next morning early to start. He completed the job very quickly and the standard of work was very good indeed. I would highly recommend Paul and will certainly use him again in the future.

Paul is reliable and extremely patient. His rates are reasonable and he'll put in the hours to make sure the job is completed on time. He clears up everyday before he leaves. Ask him about a product called CT1 - interesting!

Fitted furniture - beautiful unit in our lounge. Paul was quick to get in contact and did the job within a week. He was good at interpreting our requirements as I was pretty poor at briefing! We are going to get him to do some more work. Very happy and would recommend

Paul did the work on time and with the minimum of fuss. He also kept within my budget with labour, supply of the door, architrave, hinges, handles and a lock and 2 keys, all for just under £400. He is local to Edgware and so would definitely recommend to anyone in this area and beyond. Lee. Stanway Gardens. Edgware.

Can I paint over putty? Not the type that holds the glass on but the putty they've used to hold an entire new window frame in. I'm looking at painting the masonry around the windows to smarten it all up. Wondering if it's okay and won't harm the putty? Many thanks

The 'putty' you mention is either acrylic frame sealer, which can be painted or silicone sealant which can't. In either case you won't do any damage, the paint will just fall off silicone in time.

I recently painted my living room. Beforehand I filled holes and cracks with 'Homebase multipurpose interior polyfilla' that was "ready to paint when dry" - left it to dry for 2 days. Sanded it down before applying Matt emulsion paint - 2 coats, 4-5 hours inbetween. The next day it was fine, looked smooth and nothing visible underneath. 2 days later every single spot that was filled is visible and the paint on top of the areas is cracked (very very fine cracks, like dry mud). No idea why this happened, perhaps I should have used a primer, but still didn't anticipate it would have been that bad. Thanks to any kind soul who can help!

I suspect that you may have used Dulux emulsion, over the last few years the formulation has changed and this ALWAYS happens over caulk, I've not heard of it happening over filler. If you prime over the spots with a good sealer like Zinsser and then re coat it should be fine. Johnstones is a far better emulsion nowadays. Tetrion or Tupret are good fillers.
