Chimney Building / Repair
A lot of money for half hour's work and this year it turns out that the problem has not been fixed and the water is getting into the bedroom in the same place and will need re-plastring, AGAIN an decorating.

We advised you at the outset that lead work to your chimney would require replacement in order to provide a long lasting solution,however you elected a cheaper short term repair.we provide a 6month warranty for these works that you agreed to undertake in acceptance of our quote,it's unfortunate that as advised it apears that the lead replacement is now a necessity.we would be happy to quote for this work should you so wish.

You did not advise that it was a short term repair; it would fix the problem. You took 30 minutes and charged £357.22. I now have have a quote for £320 ? replacement of the lead step flashing on the sides of the chimney ? remove Ridge tiles next to chimney both sides and old lead step flashing ? rake out mortar joints to 25mm depth ? Install new code 4 sheet lead flashing? seal into wall using lead sheet sealant ? dress lead to from correct shape ? re-cement ridge tiles into place ? removal of all waste

Susan - you requested a cheaper repair that would exclude the cost of lead and associated labour and you agreed to the scope we proposed so that you could retain budget to undertake decoration works internally. We advised from the outset that the more cost effective repair we undertook would not be a long term fix and again, this is what you agreed to. Thank you for your comments.

No that is not true. I wanted the chimney repaired so that it wouldn't leak. There us no point in a temporary repair. I had the bedroom wall plastered and have redecorated. It all has to be done again now because you mislead me.
