I'm debating between laying artificial grass or turf. Does anyone know which is easier to do? I figure turf is laying loads of soil and then placing turf on top and making sure it stays wet for the first few days. Eventually the rolls of turf will join together and give a seamless lawn. Can this be done on top of weed membrane (currently got one covering the garden to slow the weed growth), and will turf act as a weed blocker for ones that are below it? Artificial grass seems a bit trickier - remove all grass, lay and compact sand, then lay artificial grass on top of this? I guess artificial grass backing will be a tough for weeds to get through so that and a membrane should do the trick? Cutting and joining will be harder to do well i guess though? Thanks for any help! Mike

I can't advise on artificial grass as I don't do this type of work but regarding the turf you would need a minimum of 4 inch top soil between the membrane and turf for it to establish and root.. You may still get weeds growing through the turf but ask g as you keep mowing they will soon die off or you can apply a weed and feed but only a few months down the line when grass is established. It really isn't as People want you to think Just make sure the soil is level as possible compacted then lightly raked, roll out the turf and slightly overlap the edges and water well grass is hardy and will root anywhere

That's disgusting to hear, I'm sure if you speak to they can trace their address and other details, If they won't give the details to you I'm sure the police can pursue the matter for you. Hope you catch them !
