Plasterer / Renderer

Jim did a great job. It was a large ceiling and had to be done in two halves but the end result was spot on.

Plasterer / Renderer

Jim did an excellent job repairing two bad ceilings in our new home. He was prompt, professional and cleaned the rooms well after completing the work. He also did a couple of other repair works, one of which was not an easy job, but the quote he gave us before starting was what he charged us. Would recommend him for any plastering work.

James was polite and professional from very first contact. It was a joy to have him working in the house (not always the case with other tradesmen). He worked hard and conscientiously, is warm and friendly - happy to stop and chat from time to time. He took great care to cover and protect floors, doors and furniture etc. I had delayed having the plastering done for years, dreading chaos and mess but using James for the job meant it wasn't a nightmare at all. Thoroughly recommended.

Roberta Walker's question

My neighbour is getting a lot of building work done we are a semi detached property i returned from work late evening to find she had removed chimney stack and started rebuilding it. I tried to contact her to no avail she came to my door several weeks later asking for half the cost to say i was angry is an understatement informed her she had not informed me of removal of chimney stack she said her builder said it was in bad repair and needed removed so she went ahead. Noone has contacted us ref this should she not need building control am still shocked and angry.

Yes it does as most stacks weigh around seven tonnes! Most councils have a website where you can report building work that hasn't been authorised. Normally takes around five minutes to complete. That will prompt build control to investigate. In addition I believe the party wall agreement would come into play here, so maybe best to seek solicitors help.

Do a tradesperson have to keep to the quote that they have quoted

Yes, unless they occur additional works outside of the quotation then you'd expect to see that added on; always good to come to agreements beforehand.
