Suspected arch / beam failure on 1st floor ceiling. Require supports / props ASAP to take load off arch down to ground level. Will need to identify joist locations etc / type of flooring in order to prop safely. Also would like a quote on repairing arch, to patch up several cracks throughout the house and possibly external and internal re-decorating.
Will recommend. Reliable, hard working, and value for money.

I need a builder for end of August 2008 to carry substantial work such as rewiring an entire three bed semi detached house in Reading. The house needs a new boiler, hot and cold water connected to mains ( for the moment it's tank) and a new central heating. For the central heating we are looking for someone able to install under floor heating. The house needs also to be replastered and we also would like some painting work carried out with a possibilty to install a new bathroom
We had a complete rewiring, plumbing and kitchen done in August 08. The work was carried out very quickly and the project manager on site was really helpful. However, the finitions especially in the kitchen and the plumbing could have been better. We had some problems later with the wiring in the bathroom that could have been avoided, if we had been approprietly advised in the first place. I will use the company again if I have some major building work to be carried out, but I will be more careful this time while the work is being done. It is fair to say that the value for the money is good but the company needs to improve on the finitions when they work for individuals as it seems that they work the same way than they do when they work on industrial premises, which may be effective but not esthetic.

We want our smallest bedroom to combine with our large and now redundant airing cupboard (boiler now in loft) The job involves: removing a small partition wall in the box room placing a smaller partition/doorway. Boarding/plastering over the currently rough wall in what is now the airing cupboard filling in a small hole in the ceiling moving a wire that keeps our boiler control on (optional, could get an electrician in to do this) I have given a rough budget I hope the cost is close to the low end of this range.
The job itself was fine and done for a fair price. Couple of points to note however: - the start date was moved twice at short notice with little explanation - we were charged extra for removal of rubbish (and not all of it was actually taken away!) - so make sure you are clear about what is and isn't included before you start - the plastering went a bit over some wallpaper so when we come to decorate it might end up ruining the plaster finish. For these reasons we've reduced our rating a little.
