Shower water damage

Posted by James , on
I live in a rented flat. The building was only finished in 2022, and I am the first tenant to live in the property. It is quite a nice building. Last year, a piece of trim at the edge of the shower became unattached. I thought I would be able to stick it back on once the area was dry, but despite attempts at drying, continued usage has led to signs of damp along the trim. The piece that fell off is from the corner, just 5cm long, but the signs of damp run along the outside edge (80cm). I now see signs of damp inside the shower (through the silicon at the base) so have stopped using it. My questions are: 1. Is there anything I can do to reduce the damage until the repair is done, other than stopping using it (i.e. put a fan / open a window - or will this make it worse). 2. What is the likelihood that the base pan will need to come out, or is it more likely simply the wooden 2x1 running the length of the outside can be removed, the whole thing dried for a few weeks and then the trims put back? I have a shower I can use over the road so I can be here to leave the window open and not use the shower.
