Blown plaster replace with baten and plasterboard

Posted by David Elliott, on
Hi, I stripped wallpaper off some of the walls in a flat I recently acquired to discover the plaster on the walls was all blown and has to come off back to brick. I intend on battening and plasterboarding the wall but want to be sure that I am not going to cause any issues with damp/mould in the future. The property was built around 1950s, of cavity wall construction with no cavity wall insulation at present. If I decide to use 2x1 inch batten and plasterboard on top with no insulation, will this be ok? Should I use a DPM and/or vapour barrier, and if so should this be behind the battens or the plasterboard? I will likely have cavity wall insulation in the future.
