Fire hazard oil heater

Posted by Penny Beale, on
I've noticed the plug to my oil heater is going brown and smells like burning. I've switched it off of course. Is this a wiring issue with the plug perhaps and how can I go about getting it fixed?

Hi Penny, It seems that's a loose connection either in the socket you're plugging the heater in, or inside the heater itself or in the heater's plug. First thing you can do, get an electrician to replace the 3 pin plug and check the connections inside the socket. If you still smell like burning after doing that, get rid of the heater because it's not worth fixing it. Hope this helps
