How would you put flooring down on a concrete floor of a kitchen

Could you be more specific as to what type of flooring you are looking to lay? Wood, laminate, tiles etc? Generally speaking, you would either "float" the floor or use a specialist adhesive to glue the floor to the concrete, but it all depends on what type of flooring material you are thinking of using.

Mary, you haven:t given enough info. ts not just a simple case of putting a floor down as the Handy person or DIY persons think it is. Best advertise. Oh just a point. See if any of the so called people are actually acredited. Such as F.I.T.A / C.F.A / N.W.F.A . In my opinion i doubt it
