It is always best to get the opinion of a security expert or locksmith if you think that you need extra security measures for your externals doors. An professional will be able to offer sound advice on making your home more secure as well as being able to fit a variety of frame-strengthening accessories at a reasonable rate. The London bar and the Birmingham bar are the most popular forms of frame-strengthening recommended by security experts.

These metal bars are fitted on either side of your door frame, which provides protection against your door being kicked in, as well as negating the need to remove parts of the door to fit new, larger locks. The more you remove from the door the weaker it becomes and hence is easier to break into by brute force. In order to fit these security measures your tradesman will have to remove the door and then drill holes for the bars before re-hanging it.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on external doors. We also asked about internal doors.

Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local carpenters and joiners.
