Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Low High
Hinges £50 £70

If the hinges are failing on your door then it will start to hang incorrectly. In most cases the hinges will have become buckled or bent, or the screws that hold them in may have started to come away from the door frame. A carpenter, joiner or builder will be able to fit new hinges, repair slightly damaged ones or fill and then remake the hole that they are screwed into. This will strengthen the security of your external door and make sure that it hangs well. The cost of the job will depend on how much work is involved in the job. Your tradesman should have simple hinges with him and will be able to source any more unusual hinges should you need yours replacing rather than repairing.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on external doors. We also asked about internal doors.

Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local carpenters and joiners.
