Replacing a plain flat door in your home is a straightforward task for any competent tradesman and can be carried out by a carpenter, joiner or handyman. If the door is a like-for-like replacement then all that needs to be done is for the old door to be taken down and the new one hinged and put in place. In some cases you may be able to fit the new door on the hinges used for the previous door, but in most cases it is advisable for your tradesman to fit the new hinges that come with the new door and make sure that existing or new screw holes are solid and strong.

Once the new door is up then you may choose to have your tradesman paint it or paint woodwork around it. The job will be very quick to complete, with the main cost for the job coming from the cost of the door itself.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on internal doors. We also asked about external doors.

Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local carpenters and joiners.
