Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Tracks or runners

Low High
Tracks or runners £50 £100

It should be a relatively simple task for a skilled carpenter or joiner to make adjustments or repairs to the tracks or runners on internal sliding, bi-fold or other doors. Tracks may become kinked or buckled over time and doors may start to stick, but a skilled professional should be able to hammer out any uneven areas and replace parts of the track where it is too damaged to be repaired. They may also need adjusting if you change the floor surface on either side of the internal door in order to make them run smoothly. The runners on such doors may also need maintenance work from time to time, including lubrication and the replacement of small moving parts such as wheels or pivots.

A skilled tradesman should have any such spares with him when he calls and will be able to source more specialist fittings and fixtures should you need them. This cost for the job largely depends upon how long it will take to discover a problem and solve it, but it is often a case of a simple, inexpensive repair.

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on internal doors. We also asked about external doors.
