Create doorway in stud wall and hang door £300 £550

Creating a doorway in a stud wall should be a simple job for any experienced builder or internal renovations expert. These walls are not load-bearing, so they will not usually need to be strengthened once the doorway is made. They will also need to check if any services run through the wall that is being partly demolished. If this is the case you may first need to ask another professional to reroute services such as electrics or plumbing.

The builder will first knock out the wall, which will be a messy part of the job. But this is not overly time-consuming, as stud walls are easy to get through. The builder will then tidy up the opening and clear up any waste materials before proceeding to install a door frame and hang the new door.

The cost of labour here should be fairly standard and the job should be completed within two or three hours. The main cost of the job will depend on the materials that you choose. These are the door frame, door and fixtures, which includes door knobs or handles and thing likes locks, door closers or decorative features.
