Replace an existing consumer unit

Replace an existing consumer unit £200 £400

If you have an ageing consumer unit or fuse box then it may need replacing. This may also be the case if you have had a lot of work done in the house, either adding lots of new outlets and circuits or having your home rewired. Your electrician will need to safely remove your old consumer unit and replace it with the new model before testing it for safety.

This kind of work must be reported to the local authority and your Part-P registered electrician will make sure that this is done on your behalf.  The decision to change the existing consumer unit may also be the result of an electrical installation condition report and some rewiring may be required alongside the work to replace the old unit. Your  electrician should advise you on which unit will best suit your home and in most cases they will purchase this and simply add this to the bill for the job.

Rated People surveyed 40 of our electricians across the country to find out how much it costs to carry out a range of electrical work on your home.
