Your washing machine, dishwasher or even your tumble dryer can all need the attention of a plumber at some point in their lifespan. Although your plumber is more likely to be called out to deal with leaks caused by faulty machines, pipework or blockages than a technical malfunction with the appliance. Your plumber should be able to repair or replace any damaged or leaking pipes or hoses in next to no time, but they may take a little longer to discover the problem if your kitchen flood is down to a blockage somewhere in the pipes that these appliances empty into.
Some plumbers can also deal with technical or electrical problems with appliances, or have someone on their team who specialises in this. It is always worth checking the troubleshooting guide in your appliance’s instructions or visiting the manufacturer’s website before calling out a plumber, especially if your appliance is still under guarantee. As a general rule, if you think the problem is outside the appliance then call the plumber, if the problem is inside the appliance then call the manufacturer. This may save you a call out charge from your plumber.
