Tap repair £50 £100 £100 £200

Calling your plumber out in order to repair a tap may appear to be a job that is too minor for them to be concerned with and too small for you to pay for. But the irritation caused by a dripping tap and the potential harm that the leaking tap may cause, mean that it is well worth bringing in a professional. When your tap is dripping, or when water is bubbling from one of the joints in the tap, you are wasting water. And if you are on  a water meter that also means you are wasting money.

Right tools for the tap repairing job

Your plumber knows about fixing or replacing all types of taps, as well as having specialist tools to do the job right. Having the work done early may save you the need to replace costly taps and you can also ask your plumber to check other taps, as well as carrying out any other small jobs or tasks you may have in mind.

An experienced plumber will be happy to use the time you are paying for to carry out preventative maintenance work, rather than simply solve the problem quickly and then leave, charging you for a callout. Water pressure issues and heat issues are all things that your plumber can help you with in relation to your taps and these are usually fairly simple to solve by fixing other parts of your hot water system or repairing leaking pipes.

Repairing a dripping tap

Simply disassembling the tap and replacing the washer is largely something of the past in terms of modern plumbing. Most mixer taps now contain a cartridge-style washer. These can be replaced, but it can be both simpler and cheaper to replace a whole tap or mixer than to repair them in many cases.

Then there is the fact that it is not simply the washer in your taps that can wear or become faulty and need repairing. This really is a case where some of what you are paying for is the plumber’s expertise and their ability to diagnose a fault, whether it is the trapped air that causes strange banging noises or a persistent drip. In most cases, your professional will have the parts needed for a repair in their van or at least know of a nearby plumbers’ merchant who can supply the materials right away.
