|Condensation or mould||£50||£400|
Condensation mould occurs when your bathroom is insufficiently ventilated and heated. This means that certain spots in the bathroom are constantly wet, allowing mould to grow and spread. The easiest way to deal with this is to ensure you have a good ventilation extractor fan in the bathroom, which vents to the outside. If you do not have one then an electrician or bathroom expert should be able to advise you on them and fit one for you.
They may also suggest the installation of air bricks or installing a towel heater or radiator if a cold wall is attracting damp in your bathroom. Damp is often caused by your warm home being well insulated with not enough natural airflow, so opening the windows and refraining from drying clothes in the bathroom can help the problem to cease.
The tradesman will first clean the area, probably with a bleach solution. When the area is dry they may use a fungicidal paint to ensure that the problem does not recur. In extreme cases a dehumidifier may have to be used and this will be hired in by the tradesman (at an extra cost to you) in order to finish the repair and make sure it lasts.
