Hi Vim, Asking for a deposit is not uncommon as many tradespeople require an initial payment to help them cover the cost of materials, etc and get started. However, we never recommend paying the entire amount up front. The deposit should not be more than 20% of the overall job price and the tradesperson should be able to explain what it is covering (e.g. any initial costs). Hope this helps!
