My architect says after 6 years no need to obtain Building Reg completion cert from my local authority, true? How do I avoid issues when selling in the future?

if work was done under building regs you should of automatically received certificate after final inspection if work was completed properly if so council will have it on record and you can always get a copy if not you need to find out why you will always need certificate to sell house to prove work was done to code

as Karl says, your architect is wrong, I think he is mixing it up with Planning. If you build something without planning permission and it does not get challenged with X years I believe you can keep it, perhaps this is what he meant!
