I would like to have a dormer extention built, how do i go about it, do i need an architect to do the plans for planning permission.thanx

Yes you will need an architect, He will provide plans for the Local Authorities Building Control and Planning Depts. He should be able to complete and send in the forms and liase with them on your behalf.

He should also provide detailed Build Drawings/Specification, this is important not only at the construction stage but for quoting purposes. This will ensure all quoting companies have all the info they need and that they are all quoting for exactly the same job.
